VIVA – The Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) stated several investors have shown interest in developing the new capital, IKN Nusantara in East Kalimantan.

"The high interest of friendly countries to invest in the IKN Nusantara can be seen from delegations from Korea, Japan, and Switzerland who have visited the Indonesian new capital directly to observe development progress and explore investment opportunities," said the Head of OIKN, Bambang Susantono in Jakarta, on Thursday.

Including the Japanese delegation are entrepreneurs engaged in the building and housing sector, he continued.

Susantono stated the latest data shows that 167 investors have sent Letters of Intent to participate in IKN Nusantara's development.

Among them, five investors have received a Letter to Proceed (LTP) from the government to build housing for the State Civil Apparatus (ASN), namely Summarecon Agung Tbk (SMRA), Nusantara Consortium (CCFG Corp and RBN), Korean Land and Development, Consortium of Perintis Triniti Properti Tbk (TRIN), and Nindya Karya (Persero).

To facilitate investment in the IKN Nusantara, the government has issued a special policy through Government Regulation No 12 of 2023 on the Granting of Business Licenses, Ease of Doing Business, and Investment Facilities for Business Actors in IKN Nusantara.

This policy aims to provide certainty, opportunities, and greater participation to business actors to accelerate the development of the new capital.

Moreover, this policy is designed for IKN Nusantara not only the center of government but also the center of economic activities that are Indonesia-centric, Susantono said.

He also hope hat businesses could help make the city a center of infrastructure provision and economic activities that would become the locomotive of future economic growth for Indonesia.

"The development of the IKN Nusantara is a major project that requires substantial investment and collaboration between the government and businesses. The city is being built from scratch on green land, which provides a unique opportunity to create a sustainable and efficient urban environment," he explained.

IKN Nusantara is the new capital city being developed in Indonesia as mandated by Law Number 3 of 2022. It is expected to be a sustainable city that will drive the country's economy in the future and become a symbol of national identity.

The Indonesian government has committed that only 20 percent of the development funds will come from the state budget, while the remaining 80 percent will be funded by investors.
