VIVA – Repsol Honda Team has confirmed that Marc Marquez will miss the upcoming Americas MotoGP, Austin, Texas, this weekend because he continues the recovery from his injury some time ago.
According to an official statement from Honda on Tuesday, after conducting a final CAT scan, Marquez and his medical team, led by Dr. Ignacio Roger de Ona, at the Ruber Internacional Hospital in Madrid, confirmed the first metacarpal is still in recovery.
After close collaboration with the race team, all involved have chosen to let the injury heal completely first and avoid unnecessary risks by sitting out the third round of MotoGP.
Furthermore, Marquez will continue to undergo his rehabilitation program at home to return to fitness as soon as possible.
"I will continue to work hard on the rehabilitation process that I have been undergoing for some time. So, I can get back on my bike again. Thank you for your support, and see you soon!" said Marquez.
Previously, Marquez fell during Portimao's round one of the 2023 season after clipping Jorge Martin (Prima Primac Racing) and colliding with Miguel Oliveira (Crypto Data RNF MotoGP Team) in the early stages of the Grand Prix.
