Saudi Arabia King Sends 100 Tons of Dates for Indonesia

VIVA – King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia has repeatedly sent aid in the form of dates to Indonesian people. If previously, he delivered 30 tons, this time King Salman sent 100 tons of dates.

"May Allah SWT, always give the country of Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and all Islamic countries can progress, be good, especially in this holy month of Ramadhan," said Saudi Ambassador to Indonesia, Faisal Abdullah H. Amodi at the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory, East Jakarta, on Tuesday.

"The dates are good and special – for the distribution is coordinated with the Ministry of Religious Affairs, which will be responsible for the distribution of dates. The amount is 100 tons," he said.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Zainut Tauhid Sa'adi, said that this is not the first time Saudi Arabia has given dates. He said that King Salman had handed over dates several times every Ramadhan.

"In this very holy month, we on behalf of the Indonesian Government express our sincere gratitude for the gift given by King Salman," Deputy Minister Sa'adi remarked.

He hoped that Indonesia and Saudi Arabia could always strengthen relations and cooperation n the social, economic, and educational fields.

Deputy Minister Sa’adi also mentioned that the distribution of dates will be sent through the Regional Office and then distributed to mass organizations, community leaders, Islamic boarding schools, and those in need.

"We will definitely distribute the dates to all parties, mainly through regional offices, then forwarded to Islamic organizations, as well as community leaders, in the regions, there are Islamic boarding schools, universities, and also parties in need."
