Indonesian Contingent Targets Third Place at the 2023 SEA Games

VIVA – The Indonesian contingent is expected to maintain the top three at the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games, according to Indonesia's Acting Minister of Youth and Sports, Muhadjir Effendy.
"To all Indonesian athletes who will fight, congratulations on competing and fighting. Hopefully, Indonesia's previous ranking in the third position can be maintained. Expectly, it can improve," he said.
Effendy wants the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games to be used as a unifying event and strengthen nationality. Then, also increases the sense of togetherness, and sportsmanship, which also connects good relationships.
"Some activities, especially sports, can be utilized as well as possible to build the community's economy, develop the tourism sector, and increase creativity," Effendy stated.
Furthermore, he hoped that Cambodia as the host of the 2023 SEA Games could be successful and run safely and smoothly. "Congratulations to Cambodia for hosting the SEA Games this year," he added.
While the Chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia) Raja Sapta Oktohari also believes that Indonesia can achieve success at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia.
"In my opinion, there is no word of losing before competing. Our athletes aim to compete and win. This victory is an ideal (athlete) to be able to take as many gold medals as possible at the SEA Games Cambodia," Oktohari concluded.
