Two Indonesian Ballerinas to Performance in Youth America Grand Prix

VIVA – An achievement was made by two young ballerinas from Indonesia, Ellaina Josephine Yudiantyo and Eva Julia Sutanto. Both are 10 years old and managed to get the opportunity to perform at the international ballet competition titled Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) on April 3 to 9, 2023.

Youth America Grand Prix is a scholarship program as well as the largest international student ballet competition in the world with an age criterion of 9 to 19 years old. Each year YAGP holds regional auditions in the United States and around the world, with the Final Round taking place every April.

Ellaina and Eva have been preparing since mid-2021 under the guidance of the teaching team from Marlupi Dance Academy.

Then in October 2022, they managed to get first place in Duo/Trio, 2nd Place Pre-Competitive Classical (Ellania), and Top 12 Pre-Competitive Classical and Contemporary (Eva) at the event. Afterward, they along with 8 other Marlupi Dance Academy students received an invitation to attend the YAGP Finals.

Ellaina and Eva will perform the duo dance Yin-Yang at the YAGP event, choreographed by Mr. Michael Halim and Ms/Mrs. Rita Rettasari Tjhai. In addition, each will also perform one ballet and one contemporary dance at the event.

Representing Indonesia in the world ballet competition, Ellaina and Eva stated that it is a pride to make Indonesia proud on the international stage as well as hatch a dream to become a professional ballerina in the future.

"I want to continue to develop my talents and become an Indonesian professional ballerina who makes Indonesia proud around the world," Ellaina said in a written statement.

"Eva wants to become an Indonesian professional ballerina who can bring Indonesia's name to the world. I also managed to get a full tuitions scholarship at the Academy Russian Ballet Virginia, USA which will begin in August 2023," meanwhile Eva said.

In addition to successfully representing Indonesia in prestigious ballet competitions at the world level, both have also made various proud achievements in various prestigious national and international competitions.
