Celebrate Nyepi Day: Prambanan Temple to be Closed for Tourists

VIVA – In honor of Nyepi Day 194 Saka Year, PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko (TWC) are closing the park for public visits. This closure takes place from Wednesday, 6 am to Thursday 6 am local time.

President Director of PT TWC, Febrina Intan, explained that the closure was carried out as a form of respect for all Hindus. TWC as Indonesia Heritage Management is fully committed to managing quality and sustainable heritage and culture destinations.

She explained that there are 4 pillars of tourist destination management carried out by TWC, namely education, conservation, spirituality, and tourism. "Spirituality is one of the pillars of destination management at Prambanan Temple Tourism Park,"

PT TWC supports religious activities and spiritual values for the benefit of Hindus, "Therefore, we decided to close the Prambanan Temple destination for public visits, during Nyepi Day, which is on March 22, 2023," said Intan.

She added that this is TWC's real action towards the government program that has been mutually agreed upon and contained in the MoU between the Ministry of Religion, Ministry of Education Culture Research and Technology, Ministry of BUMN, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, DIY Regional Government, Central Java Provincial Government, regarding the Utilization of Prambanan Temple for the benefit of Indonesian Hindus and the world.

Meanwhile, a series of Nyepi Day celebrations at Prambanan Temple began on March 21, 2023. The activity begins with the Tawur Kesanga Ceremony which is planned to be attended by thousands of Hindus from Central Java and Yogyakarta.

In addition, at TWC Prambanan there is also an Ogoh-Ogoh and Pangrupukan parade that can be enjoyed by tourists as a tourist attraction.

"This also provides an added value experience for destination visitors, as well as adding attractions in the form of religious performing arts that can be enjoyed by visitors in general," Intan concluded.
