President Joko Widodo Inaugurates the Labuan Bajo-Golo Mori Road

VIVA – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the Labuan Bajo-Golo Mori Access Road, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province, on Tuesday. The President hopes that the road can encourage the development of Labuan Bajo as a super-priority tourist destination.
"We see that the road from Labuan Bajo to Golo Mori has been completed. Hopefully, this will improve connectivity in developing Labuan Bajo as a super-priority tourist destination," the President stated in his remarks.
The President also said that the road connecting Labuan Bajo and Golo Mori can support the development of surrounding areas. The 25-kilometer access road was built with a budget of IDR 481 billion.
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, the Head of the National Road Implementation Center (BPJN) X NTT, Agustinus Junianto, explained that along the access road, several bridges with a total length of 175 meters were also built.
"In the construction of this road there are bridges that we built along 175 meters, there are four bridges namely Naganae Bridge, Wae Mburak Bridge, Wae Kenari Bridge, and also Soknar Bridge," he explained.
Furthermore, Agustinus considered that the construction of the access road could cut travel time from Labuan Bajo to Golo Mori, "Previously, from Labuan Bajo to Golo Mori took approximately two to three hours, but now it only takes 30 minutes,"
Also accompanying the President during the inauguration were Minister of Public Works and Public; Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Cabinet Secretary; Pramono Anung, Governor of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT); Viktor Laiskodat, and Regent of West Manggarai; Edistasius Endi.
