VIVA – Nowadays, motorcycles and cars starting to be offered in more environmentally friendly drive versions, ranging from hybrid to pure electricity. It is known, public transportation like a bus also has enormous potential to be developed electrically.
President Director of PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk and President Commissioner of PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas, Anindya Novyan Bakrie conveys the number of TransJakarta fleets currently in the range of ten thousand units.
On his Instagram official account, @Anindyabakrie reveals several advantages of Electric buses compared to mass transportation with a conventional engine.
The first is, the noise level produced is absolutely zero, so electric bus passengers can have conversations without hear other big sounds.
"This electric bus has zero decibels or sound, but because the regulation must be a minimum of 50 decibels, speakers are installed. So, for example, a motorcycle in front knows a bus is coming," he said.
The second advantage is related to operational cost efficiency where electric buses require less than conventional buses, "For a 12-meter bus, for example, 200 kilometers a day, they use 100 liters of fuel. One liter is Rp6,000, so Rp600 thousand a day," Anindya Bakrie stated.
Meanwhile, electric buses with the same mileage only require 200 kilos Watt hours of electricity, which costs IDR 900 per kWh.
"The charge is only IDR 900, so a day per bus is IDR 180,000 vs IDR 600,000 per day. As for emissions, don't ask," he said.
Regarding safety, Bakrie explained that electric buses are equipped with a variety of sophisticated devices that can monitor driver behavior, to ensure passengers remain safe.
"We can monitor the driver, saving energy. In terms of braking, the negative position. And if the driver is sleepy, we can wake them up," he explained.
As information, an electric vehicle is environmentally friendly; EVs produce zero emissions at the tailpipe, which means they don't contribute to air pollution. This is especially important in urban areas where air pollution can have a significant impact on public health.
