Indonesia-Malaysia Agree to Protect Palm Oil Sector Industry

VIVA – Indonesia and Malaysia will go on a mission to the European Union (EU), it must thing to do for protect their palm oil sector and counter discrimination and unilateral policies affecting the commodity and harming the two countries interests.

"Today, our dialogue primarily is on the palm oil industry. We discussed some urgent issues on the palm oil industry dialogue and proposed a joint approach allowing for coordinated action that we concur to protect the palm oil sector," Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto has informed, on Thursday through the press conference.

The mission is to engage with interested parties. The Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC), comprising Indonesia and Malaysia, will also lobby the EU to achieve favorable outcomes for both producing and consuming countries.

"The visit also aims to promote because India has received recognition for ISPO (Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil) and MSPO (Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil) with a joint initiative with the Indian Palm Oil Sustainable Framework," he said.
