Sukawati Art Market Reborn, Jokowi Hopes Many Tourists Visit It

VIVA – The Indonesian President, Joko Widodo has been inaugurated the revitalization of Sukawati Art Market, Gianyar, Bali on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. He hopes, many foreign and local tourists visit this market.
“I hope, the Sukawati Art market is better. All of us know that the community activities restrictions enforcement (Indonesian known as PPKM) has been revoked last December. We hope many foreign tourists come to Dewata Island, Bali Island. Both foreign or just local tourists,” The President Jokowi stated after inaugurating Sukawati Art Market, in Gianyar.
President Jokowi reviewed first the new building of the market with the first lady, Mrs. Iriana Joko Widodo, and some ministers. He saw the new building market so much better than the old building.
“I saw it inside, there is a drastic change. The arrangement of goods, products produced by artists, from MSMEs (small, micro, and medium enterprises) in Bali are all accommodated here," the President said.
Not only that, but President Jokowi also said the revitalization of three blocks of the Sukawati Art Market, namely Block A, Block B, and Block C spend cost around IDR 160 billion.
The revitalization project of the three market blocks started in 2019 after the issuance of Presidential Regulation No. 43/2019 on the Construction, Rehabilitation, or Renovation of People's Markets, Infrastructure for Universities, Islamic Religious Universities, and Elementary and Secondary Education Units.
The three blocks, which are integrated, also have several facilities such as toilets, breastfeeding rooms, health rooms, and children's playrooms. The market is also equipped with elevators to make it easier for the elderly, pregnant women, and disabled groups to shop.
