Hundreds of Indonesian Athletes Join Tokyo Marathon 2023

VIVA – Hundreds of Indonesian athletes will take part in the 2023 Tokyo Marathon on March 5, 2023, to celebrate 65 years of the Indonesia-Japan relationship.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Japan, Heri Akhmadi, said that 120 athletes from Indonesia will participate in this event. According to him, the high enthusiasm of Indonesian runners to take part in the Tokyo Marathon indicates the close relationship between the two countries.
"It also happens that this year is 65 years of Indonesia-Japan relations. So, we want to show the Japanese people the closeness between these two countries. Not only in terms of politics but also related to sports, socio-culture, and others," said Heri Akhmadi at the workshop 'Let's Talk About Tokyo Marathon 2023 initiated by Cerita Lari with Pocari Sweat, at Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta on Saturday, January 28, 2023.
"So, this is also to celebrate 65 years of Indonesia-Japan friendship," Heri Akhmadi said.
On that occasion, Heri Akhmadi also greeted directly the athletes from Indonesia who will take part in the 2023 Tokyo Marathon. He ensured that the Indonesian Embassy in Japan was ready to welcome the athletes. It has prepared a carbo-loading event at the Indonesian Embassy Guesthouse. Athletes can eat a variety of carbohydrate-rich foods that have been prepared.Â
Not only that, but the Indonesian Embassy has also prepared a training ground for athletes to keep them fit while waiting for the Tokyo Marathon to be held on March 5. "For a small exercise, you can go around the Emperor's Palace, which is about 5 kilometers away," he added.Â
A lot of support to participate in this activity, and the participation of hundreds of Indonesian runners in the Tokyo Marathon is expected to run smoothly, because he assessed that the Tokyo Marathon event is not just an ordinary sport, but also a place of diplomacy between the host and his guests.Â
"This is very important for us as part of our diplomacy activities," Heri Akhmadi said.
