10 People Died in Mass Shooting in Los Angeles

VIVA – A mass shooting at a Los Angeles-area nightclub after a Chinese New Year celebration occurred on Saturday night. Investigators identified 72-year-old, Huu Can Tran as the gunman behind the mass shooting. This incident caused ten people dead and ten other people injured.
After that, the perpetrator committed suicide when police wanted to arrest him on Sunday local time. Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said the motive for the shooting was not yet known. The perpetrator was holding a handgun with a high-capacity magazine, “We want to know how this terrible thing happened," Luna told reporters.
Robert Luna said Tran turned the gun on himself on Sunday morning when police approached a white van he was driving in Torrance, about 34 km from the shooting scene in Monterey Park.
Monterey Park, located in the eastern part of Los Angeles, has a population of 61,000 people and about 65 percent of residents are of Asian descent, according to the LA Daily News report.
Responding to this, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that no Indonesian people were victims in the shooting incident at a nightclub near the city of Los Angeles, State of California, on Saturday night, January 21, 2023, local time.
"The Indonesian Consulate General in Los Angeles has coordinated with local authorities and the Indonesian community. Until now, there is no information on Indonesian victims," Director of Indonesian Citizen Protection and BHI at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Judha Nugraha, said in text message on Monday.
