Bali Mandara Toll Road Will Undergo Trials of Multi Lane Free Flow
- ANTARA/Andika Wahyu
VIVA – The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) revealed several considerations for the Bali Mandara Toll Road to be the first toll road to undergo a trial implementation of Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF) this year.
"The MLFF implementation will be tested first because the Bali-Mandara Toll Road has a short distance," said the Director General of Bina Marga, Hedy Rahadian on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.
According to Hedy, another consideration is the geographical condition of Bali, which is an island, so the flow of vehicle traffic is easier to control. The PUPR Ministry will later evaluate the MLFF trial on the Bali-Mandara Toll Road, before expanding the trial of the system on other toll roads.
"Later we will evaluate the trial on the Bali Toll Road and what the problems are, after that we will expand it," he said.
As information, the MLFF trial on the Bali - Mandara Toll Road will be carried out by the PUPR Ministry in March 2023.
Previously, the Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT), Danang Parikesit said the MLFF trial was carried out in stages with users during the transition period being able to directly transact through the MLFF system using the application without crossing the toll bar. However, gates for conventional cashless transactions continue to operate.
The PUPR Ministry started by eliminating one portal first at one toll gate for MLFF, while other gate portals can still be used for non-cash transactions with electronic cards.
With MLFF, the toll transaction system will be faster because users no longer need to stop to paste the electronic card, thus reducing the queue at the toll gate. In addition, MLFF makes the operational costs of toll collection more efficient.
Later, to cross the toll road, users only need to download the Cantas application and register and ensure the balance is available. This is because there will be someone who will supervise vehicles at several points on the toll road to avoid violations.
