VIVA – The government of DKI Jakarta continues to look for ways to reduce congestion. The odd-even-based system that is currently implemented is rumored to be replaced with Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) based traffic control.
In the ERP system, passing vehicle users are required to pay a fee. The requirement is planned to be imposed in several locations prone to congestion. The ERP concept itself has actually been discussed by the Jakarta Provincial Government several years ago, but until now its status is still under discussion.
From a draft copy of DKI Jakarta Provincial Regulation on Electronic Traffic Control received by VIVA, on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, in article 10 it is stated that if later implemented, the ERP system will be implemented every day starting at 5 am in Western Indonesian Time until 10 pm in Western Indonesian Time.
It is planned that vehicles that cross paid roads will be charged a fee of between IDR 5,000 to IDR 19,900.
The types of vehicles that are required to pay when going through the ERP lanes, in article 11, are said to be all motorized vehicles, both cars, and motorbikes (except heavy equipment), as well as certain vehicles that use electric motor drives.
Vehicles that will be used to pass through roads that are applied ERP, must be equipped with electronic vehicle identity devices and or certain other electronic devices.
