Analyst Claims Apple No Longer Interest in iPhone SE

VIVA – Apple will no longer produce the fourth-generation iPhone SE in 2024. This was stated by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Previously, Kuo said production of the fourth-generation iPhone SE would be delayed. However, now he believes the device has been canceled.
Despite being offered an outdated design and without the flagship features of the iPhone, the iPhone SE series still has a sizable fan base.
Apple released three SE models, one each in 2016, 2020, and 2022. While most phones may lag compared to other iPhones, Apple continues to update the processor. This means that it will always be able to run the latest apps.
But the fact, the success of the iPhone SE series has been put forward as the cause of poor sales of the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 13 Mini, reported by the Metro site, on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.
Due to concerns that the performance of the in-house baseband chip is not comparable to Qualcomm, Apple originally planned to launch the baseband chip in 2024 and let the low-end iPhone SE 4 adopt it first.
"Whether iPhone 16 uses its baseband chips depends on the development status of iPhone SE 4," Kuo wrote in a blog post.
"But the cancellation of the iPhone SE 4 has significantly increased the likelihood that Qualcomm remains the exclusive supplier of baseband chips for the new iPhone 16 series 2H24, which is better than the market consensus that Qualcomm will start losing iPhone orders in 2024," Kuo explained.
So, Qualcomm's contract to continue producing modems for iPhone is safe for a while. Then there will be a lot of people who would normally only adopt the SE having to shell out a bit more for a base model iPhone.
The news was hotly debated on Reddit, with many talking about the merits of the SE and Apple's now-defunct mini handset.
According to one commentator, the problem with the SE Series is its target customers. The actual target customer is not the type that would upgrade a device every year or two. Others answered in the affirmative, arguing that the SE in 2020 still works well. Other users mentioned that they like the home button and don't want Face ID.
"My phone doesn't feel slow at all. I'm sure there are other features out there to be had, but I honestly don't even know what they are because I'm not the latest and greatest," wrote a Reddit user.
