VIVA – The Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) has made a female cat one of its employees. The Indonesian cat, named Kokom, has black and gray stripes.
Through the official Twitter account @KemenPU, Kokom was introduced to the public on Sunday, January 8, 2023. "Introducing Kokom, PUPR's kocheng," wrote the caption in Kokom's photo upload on the account.
Kokom's cat is known to have been appointed with the position of PUPR Perkochengan Technical Officer. Kokom even has her ID card complete with the position given to her.
The ID card also contains a photo of Kokom's cat wearing a necklace with small colorful balls and a necklace with the letter K as her initials.
The official Twitter account also informs about Kokom's jurisdiction while working. The PUPR Ministry stated that Kokom has a territory in the PUPR Secretariat General building. In addition, Kokom also dislikes open areas so closed or indoor areas are chosen for cats who also use identification collars.
This is also understood by the Ministry of PUPR because Kokom is considered a Princess who is afraid of heat if assigned to outdoor or outdoor areas.
Aside from the position Kokom held during her time there, netizens were also curious about the amount of her salary. Most of them also asked whether this striped cat also received a salary, like a real employee.
The Ministry of PUPR's account answered that Kokom's salary was in the form of dry food and patting. The salary is also considered appropriate by some netizens for a cat.
Kokom is one of the many Indonesian cats who have been successfully appointed as employees in government agencies. Previously, there was Soleh who was appointed as an employee at the Serpong Primary Tax Service Office (KPP) as a Meow Expert Instructor.
There is also a cat named Enok who was appointed as an employee at Bank Mandiri in Braga, Bandung, and Kokom who was recently appointed as an employee at the Ministry of PUPR.
