Anak Krakatau Erupts Again, Spews 750 meters High Volcanic Ash

VIVA – Since entering 2023, Mount Anak Krakatau has erupted for the last three days in January. The Indonesian volcano erupts again on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 00:13 am in Western Indonesian Time, the height of volcanic ash reaching 750 meters, for 26 minutes 30 seconds.
The eruption was recorded on a seismogram, with a maximum amplitude of 40 mm. The ash was gray in color and headed northeast or around Cinangka, Serang Regency, Banten.
Based on data compiled by Anggo Nuryo Saputro and uploaded to MagmaIndonesia, an official application owned by PVMBG (Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation), it was written that the level of activity of the volcano in the Sunda Strait was at Level III or alert status.
PVMBG prohibits people from doing activities within a 5-kilometer radius of the volcano, so as not to be affected by the eruption material of Mount Anak Krakatau.
Entering the beginning of the year, at least Mount Anak Krakatau has erupted in three consecutive days, namely on Tuesday, January 03, 2023, the ash height was 100 meters from the peak and occurred at 4:38 pm in Western Indonesian Time, heading northeast.
Volcanic ash is gray to brown in color, with an eruption duration of 22 seconds and a maximum amplitude of 47 mm.
Then it happened again Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at 2:10 pm in Western Indonesian Time with an eruption height of 100 meters from the top of the peak. Gray and thick ash, heading east. The maximum amplitude was 40 mm and had a duration of 20 seconds.
Still, on the same day, another eruption occurred even more violently, with a burst height of 3,000 meters for 1 minute 37 seconds. Black volcanic ash was directed to the east, with a maximum amplitude of 65 mm.
The volcano in the waters of the Sunda Strait, which has an altitude of 157 meters above sea level, has the status of Level III or alert, with a recommendation not to approach within a radius of 5 kilometers.
