Defense Cooperation of Japan and Indonesia Get Stronger

VIVA – Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Kanasugi Kenji said that Japan’s defense cooperation with Indonesia become stronger and it has made significant progress in recent years.
It was conveyed during the 68th anniversary of the Japan Self-Defense Forces held by the Japanese Embassy, in Jakarta on Friday night, December 16, 2022. Ambassador Kenji said there has been significant progress in defense and security cooperation in recent years, as seen from high-level exchanges from all branches of the military.
He also gave an example of the visit of the Japanese army and air force leaders to Indonesia, as well as the visit of Indonesian naval leaders to Japan.
In addition, he also mentioned that one of the most symbolic achievements of defense cooperation between the two countries was Japan's participation for the first time in the Super Garuda Shield joint exercise, which is a multilateral joint military exercise.
As information, Ambassador Kanasugi Kenji was present at the opening ceremony of the event. "I saw for myself the solid relationship between our militaries and we continue to be committed to strengthening this commitment and cooperation," Kanasugi remarked.
Furthermore, he also said that defense cooperation also takes place at the educational level, where Japan's National Defense Academy has been receiving TNI cadets for several years, including one doctoral student from Indonesia this year.
"Indonesia is a very important partner for us. We share common values as a maritime country located at the strategic point of the Indo-Pacific," Kanasugi stated.
