Ddorocare and Bakrie Collaboration in NTB Waste Management

VIVA – Extreme climate change affects the balance of nature. It often leads to disasters because of unbalanced ecosystems. One of the causes of climate change is unwise to waste management, which affects the ecosystem.
Fixing waste management, especially in Central Lombok, is one of the focuses of the activities of the Yayasan Aksi Indonesia Lestari (Ddorocare). The waste problem on Lombok Island is predicted to continue to increase.
It is because of the increasing use of plastic products in every household. Therefore, Ddorocare along with nonprofit environmental organizations in Central Lombok Regency initiated Waste Preneur to create a waste management business with economic value through recycling.
Waste Preneur is expected to be a solution to the waste problem in Lombok. The Vice Governor of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Sitti Rohmi Djalilah also opened a series of Waste Preneur activities held in Esot Village, Sintung Village, Pringgarata, Central Lombok on Tuesday, December 13, 2022.
This is a joint project between Ddorocare as a collaborating institution of the Campus Leaders 5 internship program together with the Bakrie Center Foundation (BCF).
"Our responsibility is to keep greenhouse gas emissions minimized. Currently, NTB is one of the regions that dares to commit to 2050 NTB Zero Emission. No matter how small the action, it will have an impact."
Previously, Ddorocare has held beach cleanup activities (Berantai) on several beaches in Central Lombok. This is one way to educate and spread awareness to the people of Lombok to be more concerned about the issue of waste that affects the beauty of tourist destinations in Lombok.
"Previously, the Beach Clean Up at the 2022 Chain activity yesterday, has collected 480 kilograms of waste, which on average is disposable waste and has been recorded on the brand audit waste android application." Ddorocare Director, Muhammad Wahyu Rosadi remarked.
"This waste audit brand is intended to create a policy brief for companies to be wiser in producing plastic packaging," he added.
Through the application, the college student interns have managed to record at least 428 companies and more than 4000 brands proven to pollute the environment in West Nusa Tenggara, especially the island of Lombok.
As the initiator of the Campus Leaders 5 internship program, Bakrie Center Foundation strongly supports the activities carried out by partners to reduce pollution caused by waste.
This is a collaborative effort to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals of 2030 in terms of creating a sustainable green environment.
"We are thinking of integrating the tourist village as a climate village, which offers waste management as a new attraction. At the same time, it can educate the community on the importance of waste management," explained Lalu Abdul Azus, Campus Leaders Program 5 intern.
It is hoped that through this Waste Preneur, solutive and innovative achievements can be made in waste management in Lombok tourist destinations, to help overcome the effects of climate change.
