Morocco Village Suddenly Goes Viral Due to 2022 World Cup

VIVA – Morocco Village or Indonesian known as Maroko Village located in Cibalong District, Garut Regency, West Java suddenly goes viral because the name of the village is the same as the name of the participating country in the 2022 World Cup.
As known, the national team of Morocco advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2022 World Cup. The team was surprised by defeating the Spanish national team on penalties. The head of Morocco Village, Suryana, said that the love for the 2022 World Cup was felt in remote areas.
"Yes, most of the youth here also happen to love football, so when the world cup is held, they watch," the Head of Morocco Village, Suryana said on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.
He admitted that Moroccan Village suddenly goes viral because Hakim Ziyech and team are playing great. So, the majority of residents are happy because the village name is the same.
"Yes, now, Morocco Village is starting to be recognized by people, maybe because the Moroccan national team is doing well in the World Cup," Suryana remarked.
Morocco Village is located in a remote area between Peundeuy and Cibalong Subdistricts (Morocco Village is included in Peundeuy Subdistrict). The village with a population of 5,980 people is mostly football enthusiasts, Suryana continued.
Suryana explained that the name Morocco is according to parents' stories because the first head of Morocco Village came from Morocco in 1964.
"The information is that the name of the first Moroccan village head came from Morocco, either descendants or indeed Moroccans," Suryana said.
