In total, the team spent about four to five hours exploring the bottom of the sinkhole.

There were "a lot of beautiful cave deposits," says Al-Kindi, including stalagmites, stalactites, and even cave pearls (formed in the same way as stalagmites, except in the presence of flowing water) glistening under an underground waterfall.

"It also has its kind of ecosystem," says Al-Kindi, with toads, snakes, beetles, birds, and lizards. For Al-Kindi, as a geologist and cave explorer, the whole experience was "quite spectacular" Oman Cave Exploration Team (OCET) remarked.

OCET found no signs of the supernatural in the well. Instead, OCET found only rocks, soil, water, and some animal carcasses at the bottom of the well. After successfully exploring the Barhout Well, OCET finally succeeded in becoming the first team in the world to reach the bottom of the well.

Instead of finding things that smelled mystical and scary, OCET only found a cave filled with various yellow and lime-green pearls. The existence of pearls from the bottom of the well comes from water droplets.

There are Some Animal Carcasses and Snakes in a Well

Instead of finding spirits or creepy signs, it turns out that the exploration team found a wild animal like a snake.  As quoted from the atlasobscura.com page, this was reported by geology professor and the German University of Technology in Oman Mohammed al-Kindi, who joined OCET.

However, he said that the snake did not interfere to harm the explorer. Team members also found a bird carcass with an unpleasant but not pungent odor.
