VIVA – In the implementation of G20 Summit in Nusa Dua Bali, on November 15 to 16, 2022, several facilities were prepared by the Indonesian government. There was one venue that attract the attention of people, namely, the Bamboo Dome at Apurva Kempinski.
Bamboo Dome became the lunch venue for the G20 summit guests in Bali. Bamboo Dome is located on the beach and can be seen directly from the lobby platform of the Apurva hotel which is the main location where the G20 Summit took place.
In a room of about 32 meters, 43 chairs are provided with a large circular table layout so that leaders and delegates can enjoy Indonesian food together.
"So, we designed and made this dome for world leaders’ lunch. So, only a place for lunch, only for heads of state," Iwin Kurniawan as Chief Executive said, as reported from the TikTok @portalnews008 account on Thursday, November 17, 2022.Â
Bamboo itself holds a very deep philosophy, easily curved because of its flexible, elastic, and adaptable nature. President Joko Widodo only asked for a simple design with Indonesian characteristics.Â
"Mr. President wants a new atmosphere because Bali is famous for its beaches. So, we tried to make a design with Indonesian local wisdom from bamboo. We made a dome design and permitted the president and he liked it," Iwin Kurniawan remarked.
Interestingly, all construction workers to build this Bamboo Dome are from Indonesia, especially the Balinese people. They worked together to build the Bamboo Dome from design to completion.
"So, one village in the Gianyar village worked together to prepare the preparation of this bamboo dome. The designer is Mr. Ruby, we are Indonesians too. Then, the builders are also all Indonesians headed by Mr. Raka from Gianyar Village," Iwin Kurniawan remarked.
Not only from the architectural side building designer pays attention, but the Bamboo Dome can also simultaneously promote Indonesia in the international arena for the quality of Indonesian culture. Especially during a synthetic world, there is still an authentic Indonesia.Â
"This bamboo dome is all bamboo construction. We don't use iron or steel," Iwin Kurniawan said.
