VIVA – President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo welcomed G20 leaders, international organizations, and other invited guests to the Gala Dinner at Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK), Bali on November 15, 2022. As known, gala dinner is one of the agendas of the G20 Summit.

The President and First Lady wore matching traditional clothes. Then, they welcomed the guests and took a group photo with the Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue in the background.

During the dinner, President Jokowi expressed his appreciation for the presence of the G20 leaders and international institutions at GWK. The President also explained the meaning of the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue to the guests.

"In Balinese mythology, this statue describes about love, responsibility, courage, and devotion. This is our duty to the world and humanity," President Joko Widodo said, as quoted from the official website of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Wednesday, November 16, 2022.

At the G20 Summit dinner this time, the guests were treated to a variety of food menu from various regions, namely Bali, Java, North Sulawesi, Lampung, West Sumatra, North Sumatra, and Aceh.

As an appetizer, the G20 leaders enjoyed "Aneka Ratna Mutumanikam" (diversity in one) which consisted of mango, seaweed, salad with Balinese Rujak spices, and Manado crab meat corn cakes.

As for the main course, the guests were treated to Lampung wagyu beef tenderloin, Padang rendang, cassava, potato mousseline, asparagus in Balinese turmeric sauce, Balado eggplant, and many others.

Meanwhile, for dessert, the guests enjoyed Aceh chocolate mousse, tuille rice, black glutinous rice with grated coconut, and mango coulis.

Then, after dinner, the world leaders and invited guests were also treated to a variety of cultural performances. More than 200 dancers performed attractions depicting the richness and diversity of the cultural heritage of Indonesia.
