VIVA – In the B20 Summit 1-on-1 Conversation, President Director and CEO of PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk (BNBR), Anindya Novyan Bakrie asked the CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk about the SpaceX launching pad.
Anindya Bakrie said that when he went to Boca Chica to see the SpaceX facility. He heard that the best place to launch rockets is from the equator.
"When I went to Boca Chica to see your impressive facilities. I heard engineers say that the best place to launch rockets is from the equator," Anindya Bakrie said, then this statement was immediately approved by Elon Musk.
Furthermore, Anindya Bakrie explained that Indonesia has 5,000 kilometers of the equator. In fact, the new capital city, IKN Nusantara, is also on the equator.
"Do we need to talk more about the SpaceX launching pad being made in Indonesia?" Anindya Bakrie asked.
Then, Elon Musk replied that the opportunity is very possible. He said that he wanted to build launching pads in many countries.
"Yes, very possible. In the future, it would make sense to build runways in many countries. I think rockets will be used for transportation from one part of the world to another," Elon Musk remarked.
SpaceX rockets are claimed to have 20 times the speed of sound so it only takes 45 minutes to go to the other side of the world and 20 minutes to most places.
"So, I think we've opened up the world that you can travel anywhere in the world in less than an hour," Elon Musk said.
Meanwhile, regarding Starlink connectivity, a satellite internet service provided by SpaceX, Indonesia is still on the waiting list and will be available in 2023.
