In an online discussion held by Forum Merdeka Barat 9, on Sunday, November 13, 2022, Vincent Piket said that the G20 must be able to increase shared GDP and must increase sustainable energy transition, both in the manufacturing sector and other sectors such as digital transition.

"It must be able to increase the joint GDP because 80% of GDP is represented in one room in Bali soon. In addition, he said, we must improve the sustainable energy transition, both in the manufacturing sector and other sectors such as digital transition. That is what we are pursuing and will discuss a lot," Vincent Piket explained.

Meanwhile, regarding climate policy, Vincent explained that the European Union (EU) is the main leader and trendsetter for the whole world. Therefore, energy transition is a key issue that must be formulated during the G20 event in Bali.

"We need to solve climate crisis number one. That's why the energy transition is key. That's why we have to deal with the energy insecurity that is happening. We see it in Europe now, due to the Russia-Ukraine war. Even outside Europe is also affected because of the high oil and gas prices," Vincent remarked.

According to Vincent, several things must be done to avoid these shocks, the world economy must keep running. First, we must avoid energy insecurity, and second ensure that the world's poorest countries do not starve.

Vincent Piket said energy issues are a significant topic. He mentioned especially the coal-free energy sector. This is no exception in Indonesia, which participates in it. Then, he reminded us to immediately transition from high carbon to low carbon, until finally to zero carbon.

The momentum of the G20 Summit is expected to produce a joint agreement between Indonesia and several international countries specifically on energy transition, including equitable coal energy.

Meanwhile, the EU on the occasion of the G20 will share its experience as a form of contribution to the energy transition to achieve a green economy. Another example is the harmonization of electric chargers for mobile phones, bicycles, and others.
