Indonesian Police Use Face Recognition for G20 Summit Security

VIVA – The Indonesian National Police (Polri) conducts pre-Operation Exercises Puri Agung 2022 to secure the implementation of the G20 Summit presidency in Bali. The exercise on the second day is about conducting simulations in several places that have potential vulnerabilities.
According to the Deputy Chief of the Indonesian Police (Wakapolri) at the Command Center, Regional Police (Polda), Bali on November 4, 2022, the police have seen simulations in the field through the command center.
“Through the command center, our party can find out where the position of the members and the facilities and infrastructure that have been placed. In addition, the command center is also equipped with face recognition technology. So, if later, there is a Police Wanted List (DPO) and suspected people can immediately take action.” The Deputy Chief of Police said on November 4, 2022.

The training on the second day was led directly by the Deputy Chief of Police, Komjen Pol; Gatot Eddy Pramono, who was accompanied by Dankor Brimob Polri Komjen Pol; Anang Revandoko, Asops Police Inspector General Pol; Agung Setya Imam Effendi, and Head of the Public Relations Division of the Police Inspector General Pol; Dedi Prasetyo.
Gatot Eddy Pramono said that the Indonesian Police would continue to evaluate this exercise. The exercise will continue until November 5, 2022. He also added that the Indonesian Police also prepared training for tactical floor games and tactical digital games like a metaverse. This is done so the prepared security plan can run smoothly as expected.
"So, the implementation of the G20 presidency starting from preparation, during and after it can run safely and without any disturbances," Gatot Eddy Pramono added.

Regarding traffic engineering, he said that his party would continue to socialize the community so as not to cause traffic jams if later a VVIP group passed.
"We will socialize a circular so the public can understand that when the group passes, there are alternative roads that are prepared so as not to cause traffic jams," Gatot remarked.
Not only security in Bali, but the Deputy Chief of Police also emphasized that the Indonesian Police will continue to anticipate potential vulnerabilities in all regions in Indonesia. Security is carried out by synergizing and coordinating with the TNI and other stakeholders.
"I conveyed other areas to anticipate potential vulnerabilities. For example, today, there is a demonstration in Jakarta, and we have prepared security. We will continue to maintain domestic security together with the TNI and related stakeholders, including the community," Gatot explained.
