Saudi Man Takes Extreme Journey to Watch World Cup in Qatar

VIVA – FIFA World Cup in Qatar is one of the things that football fans have been waiting for. A Saudi Arabian man, Abdullah Al-Sumi, a football lover took an extreme journey through the desert by desert to get to Qatar. The journey that he took was 1,600 Kilometers.
According to media reports, he has currently traveled for 55 days and has arrived in Doha. Abdullah Al-Sumi traveled from Jeddah and only used a backpack.
In an interview with Al Arabiya, al-Sumi conveyed that the achievement is inseparable from the challenges that include enduring hot temperatures and traversing grueling desert terrain.
Al-Sumi said that he had prepared himself well before starting the journey, especially the safety. He also carried a tracking device that linked to the phones of his cousins and other friends.
He had been a trekker for five years and he said that the best part of his trip was the warm welcome of the Saudi people, Al-Sumi told Saudi Al Ekhbariya Television.
“Saudis are very friendly, encouraging… honestly, the best part of my trip was this warm welcome,” he said.
Upon his arrival in Qatar, al-Sulmi said that arriving in the Gulf state was a dream come true, adding that the achievement was not only because of perseverance but also the encouragement of people who motivated him throughout the journey.
