VIVA – Qatar will become the host of the World Cup 2022. Previously, Qatar has provided eight stadiums to hold all matches, one being the Lusail Iconic Stadium in Lusail City, Qatar. Qatar has only started the tender for construction of the stadium after it was set to host the World Cup 2022.

The search for a suitable design for this stadium took a long time. Qatar only started the process of the construction stadium in 2014. At that time, the organizing committee chose a shaped design that was inspired by works of art in the form of lanterns that are popular throughout the Saudi Arabia land.

The construction process began in 2017 and was only completed four years later. However, the stadium will be inaugurated the day after the opening World Cup 2022 in November.

The Lusail Iconic Stadium can accommodate up to 80,000 people in it. This number is the largest among the seven other stadiums prepared. The average capacity is only around forty thousand to sixty thousand people.

However, the capacity of the Lusail Iconic Stadium will be reduced considerably after the 2022 World Cup ends. The complex around the stadium will be converted into a public space containing a school, center, cafe, sports facilities, and health clinic.

Therefore, the transportation system around Lusail Iconic Stadium is made to make it easier for visitors. There is a special tram line created. So, visitors can travel to significant places in Lusail and the surrounding area.

In addition, there is also a special route that connects the stadium directly to downtown Doha and Hamad International Airport.
