Five Chaotic and Heartbreaking Festivals in the World

VIVA – Chaos can happen not only in football matches but also in festivals or concerts. Recently, the Halloween festival in Itaewon has received more attention from the public because it resulted in many people dying.
Festivals or concerts are usually places for thousands of people to gather and do fun things. However, it turns out that the festival can be a heartbreaking and chaotic place because it is full of people gathering.
Here are five of the most chaotic and heartbreaking festivals in the world:
1. Travis Scott Concert, United States
The Astroworld Festival concert which was held by rapper Travis Scott on November 5 and 6, 2021 in Houston, Texas, United States became one of the most heartbreaking festivals. As known, eight people died due to overcrowding in the concert. The rapper, Travis Scott was sued because of the concert.
At that time, the crowd was pushing closer to the stage, causing panic among them. Eleven people were taken to the hospital with heart attacks and eight more died. Some of the victims were even 10 years old. About 100 people were treated for injuries such as cuts and bruises.
2. Love Parade
Love Parade is a favorite techno and dance festival for music fans in Germany and Europe. The festival continues to grow so rapidly every year. Then, Berlin refuses to host it. In 2010, the festival was moved to a small town that could accommodate 250,000 spectators, but the concert was chaotic.
The problem lies in the access to the venue in the form of a tunnel, which makes a very large number of spectators have to jostle to enter. In that incident, 21 people were reportedly killed and 500 others injured because of jostling and trampling. The organizers of the committee finally decided not to hold the event anymore.
3. Berdendang Bergoyang, Indonesia
The Indonesian music festival, Berdendang Bergoyang, planned to be held for three days at Istora Senayan, Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) had to be stopped. The organizers canceled the event on the third day. They also apologized to the audience who had already bought tickets that day.
Previously, several problems colored the Berdendang Bergoyang music festival which was supposed to be held for three days. Several musical stages that were planned to appear were canceled. One of the reasons is because of the audience's enthusiasm. The festival caused dozens of people to faint in the middle of the concert because of overcrowding.
4. Halloween Festival in Itaewon, South Korea
Halloween celebration night in Itaewon, Seoul, South Korea became a heartbreaking night because it resulted in hundreds of people being killed and injured. The death toll from the tragedy continues to grow and has now touched 154 people and 26 of them are foreigners.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs from South Korea revealed that dozens of foreigners who were victims came from 14 countries. Three South Korean military personnel were also killed and four others injured in the Itaewon Halloween tragedy. Meanwhile, one of the contestants of Produce 101 Season 2 Lee Ji-han also died.
5. Indiana State Fair
The audience and the weather became the main causes of disaster at the festival. For example, the wind ravaged the Indiana State Fair, on August 13, 2011. The audience had received a warning from the security forces about bad weather. However, a concert with the country band, Sugarland, was held.
Finally, what the security had predicted happened. The wind blew so hard that the stage was unable to stand firmly any more. The stage collapsed, five spectators died and dozens were injured.
