PM Rishi Sunak and President Joe Biden Will Meet at G20 Summit
VIVA – The new British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak will start a collaboration with the President of the United States, Joe Biden. PM Rishi Sunak will meet President Joe Biden in Indonesia at the G20 summit, according to a Downing Street spokesman.
The spokesman for the British Prime Minister office revealed that PM Rishi Sunak spoke with Biden on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.
According to the statement, Rishi Sunak and Joe Biden in a telephone conversation had discussed the framework of US-UK relations, both bilaterally and in the Indo-Pacific region. Both countries were united by the AUKUS pact in the Indo-Pacific to counter Chinese influence.
Both countries also agreed to ensure the people of Northern Ireland had security by preserving the Belfast Treaty.

The White House has also issued a similar statement. The two leaders also reaffirmed the "special relationship" between the United States and Britain. The two countries said they would work together to advance world security and prosperity, the White House said, relaying the content of Biden and Sunak's talks.
"The leaders agreed on the importance of working together to support Ukraine and hold Russia accountable for its aggression," the statement said, referring to the war sparked by Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February.
The White House said Biden and Sunak also agreed to "address the challenges posed by China," which Washington calls its main geopolitical and economic competitor on the world stage today.
Previously, Joe Biden had commented on the election of Rishi Sunak as British Prime Minister, even while giving a speech at the Diwali event held by the White House.
Biden called the appointment of Rishi Sunak, the first person of color to hold the post of prime minister, a breakthrough and an important milestone.
The G20 Summit will be held in Bali, Indonesia, on November 15 and 16, 2022. The focus of Indonesia's presidency this year is on post-pandemic global economic recovery, with priorities in the areas of health, digital transformation, and energy transition.
However, the meeting of all heads of the G20 members this time was overshadowed by the global crisis in the food and energy sector, which was triggered by the Russia-Ukraine war.
