China Claims as One of the Safest Countries in the World

VIVA – The Deputy Minister of Public Security (MPS) of China, Xu Ganlu, stated that China is one of the safest countries in the world with a public sense of security of 98.6 percent. It was announced on Thursday, October 20, 2022.
As quoted from the results of a National Bureau of Statistics survey in 2021, he said that China has one of the lowest rates of homicide, crime, and armed crime in the world, at 0.5 cases per 100,000 people.
"Eight major criminal cases, including murder and rape, in 2021 were 64.4 percent lower than in 2012," Xu Ganlu said on the sidelines of the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) in Beijing.
According to Xu Ganlu, drugs cases also decreased by 56.8 percent and robbery cases fell drastically by 96.1 percent. He also said that the people's sense of security had reached 98.6 percent, an increase of 11 percent compared to 2012.
"Currently, China has been recognized as one of the safest countries in the world," Xu Ganlu remarked.
To create a safe and stable social environment in a sustainable manner and healthy economic development, public security personnel have taken the initiative to carry out management reforms in the internal environment of the agency that functions as a police agency.
The agency carries out duties in the field of population, regulates road traffic, and manages the entry and exit administration of the public and foreigners together with the immigration authorities, he said.
Xu Ganlu said 3,799 police officers were killed and more than 50,000 police officers injured in the line of duty over the past 10 years.
