VIVA – Ahead of the 2022 World Cup in November, almost three million tickets have already been sold. It was conveyed by FIFA President, Gianni Infantino and the organizers of the event on October 17, 2022, as quoted from Reuters.
According to the COO of the FIA ??World Cup, Colin Smith stated that the top ten countries from the 2.89 tickets that have been sold are Qatar as the host, the United States, England, Mexico, United Arab Emirates, Argentina, France, Brazil, and Germany.
Colin Smith also said that the supply of tickets was running low or even sold out. "At the moment the availability of (tickets) for matches is low or non-existent," he remarked.
In a video conference, Gianni Infantino revealed as many as 240,000 hospitality packages had been used up for the month-long tournament claiming to be the most successful hospitality program ever.
The included hospitality ticket allows spectators access to the stadium's luxurious lounge area with complimentary drinks worth over USD 34,000 (approximately IDR 528 million) per person for the semifinal and final matches.
Qatar, the smallest nation to ever host a global football tournament is preparing for around 1.2 million visitors during the World Cup.
Thousands of fans are expected to stay in neighboring tourist hubs such as the United Arab Emirates and fly to Doha for matches due to limited accommodation in Qatar.
Qatar's Director General of the Organizing Committee for the World Cup, Yasir Al Jamal, told a press conference that two million bookings for rooms had been sold and Qatar had added 30,000 rooms to accommodate last-minute ticket sales.
“It has been designed to ensure that all ticket holders have the best chance of getting accommodation,” Yasir Al Jamal remarked.
With most of Qatar's 31,000 or so hotel rooms occupied by football teams, support staff, and World Cup officials, organizers offer fan accommodation in apartments, villas, prefabricated metal cabins, desert tents, and three cruise ships moored in the port of Doha.
The 2022 World Cup will be held from November 20 to December 18. The first match took place between Qatar and Ecuador at the Al Bayt Stadium, Al Khor.
Furthermore, Colin Smith said Japan will be the first team to arrive for the tournament on November 7.
