VIVA – WhatsApp will block users from capturing screenshots of the View Once message which disappears after the receiver reads them. It aims to provide more safety for privacy.
In 2021, WhatsApp launched the 'View Once Messages' feature. Users can send messages, including photos, and videos to other users for one look before they disappear.
Previously, WhatsApp ignored the fact that anyone could easily take a screenshot of a message that was meant for viewing once.
Then Mark Zuckerberg announced a screenshot blocking option was coming to solve the problem. As quoted from the Metro site on Thursday, October 6, 2022, the beta testers of the application said that screenshot blocking was starting to appear.
This new feature was first reported by WABetaInfo. Later, anyone who wants to take a screenshot of the one-time message will get the message "Unable to take screenshot due to security policy,".
Users who tried to solve the problem with third-party apps or extensions were also unsuccessful in getting a solution, users were only given a black screenshot.
According to the site, WhatsApp does not notify the sender that the recipient is trying to take a screenshot of their message as Snapchat does.
There is no exact date yet when it will be available to all users, but WhatsApp has said that they are currently testing the feature and are excited to roll it out to users soon.
