Five Fun Facts about the Aragon MotoGP, Coming This Week

VIVA – The Aragon MotoGP will take place this week at MotorLand Aragon. The competition will be on the top two racers, Fabio Quartararo and Francesco Bagnaia.
MotorLand Aragon Circuit will hold a Grand Prix for the 14th time since MotoGP in 2010. Here are some fun facts ahead of the Aragon MotoGP race.
1. The Sixth Circuit in Spain

Aragon is the sixth circuit in Spain, after Jerez, Catalunya, Jarama, Montjuic, and Valencia to host the MotoGP world championship race.
Aragon is also one of five counterclockwise circuits on the calendar alongside Austin, Sachsenring, Phillip Island, and Valencia.
2. The Most Successful Racers

Marc Marquez became the most successful racer in Aragon by bagging five wins in the MotoGP class. Then, Franco Morbidelli and Alex Rins each have one premier class win there.
Honda is the manufacturer with the most wins in Aragon, with seven trophies, through Casey Stoner (2011), Dani Pedrosa (2012), and Marc Marquez (2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019).
While Yamaha bagged three wins through Jorge Lorenzo (2014, 2015) and Franco Morbidelli (2020/2 GP Teruel).
Ducati tasted Aragon's top two podiums when Casey Stoner won his first race at the track in 2010 from the pole. While Francesco Bagnaia was the last Aragon GP champion last year, also from the pole.
Alex Rins presented Suzuki's only win in Aragon as he finished first at the 2020 Aragon GP.
3. Dominance Racers from Spanish

MotoGP statistics note that the Spaniards dominated the win at Aragon with 25 wins from 39 races across all classes.
The only non-Spanish riders to win at the circuit are Casey Stoner (MotoGP in 2010 and 2011), Andrea Iannone (Moto2 in 2010), Romano Fenati (Moto3 in 2014), Miguel Oliveira (Moto3 in 2015).
Also, there are Sam Lowes (Moto2 in 2016, 2020/1, 2020/2), Franco Morbidelli (Moto2 in 2017 and MotoGP in 2020/2), Brad Binder (Moto2 in 2018, 2019), Francesco Bagnaia (MotoGP in 2021) and Dennis Foggia (Moto3 in 2021).
The victories of Casey Stoner and Francesco Bagnaia, then second-place finisher Andrea Dovizioso in 2018 and 2019, and Franco Morbidelli's win in 2020/2 are moments where no Spaniard has climbed the top two places on the MotoGP podium in Aragon.
Since 2010, only three riders have won a MotoGP race from the pole at Aragon: Casey Stoner (2010, 2011), Marc Marquez (2013, 2016, 2019), and Francesco Bagnaia (2021). Marquez has taken pole five times from the eight occasions he has raced in the premier class at Aragon.
4. Heavy Mission for Bagnaia

From the San Marino MotoGP, Bagnaia heads to Aragon aiming for a fifth straight win this season. Bagnaia became the first Ducati rider to set a record of four straight wins in a Grand Prix race.
The Italian will be looking to maintain his winning momentum to catch up to current standings leader Fabio Quartararo from the Yamaha team who gets 30 points away.
5. Some Racers Return to Race

As known, Marquez will join the racing at the Aragon after undergoing his fourth surgery and recovery.
Suzuki's Joan Mir will also be back on the road following an injury to the talus and right ankle ligaments that he picked up after a crash in Austria.
Yamaha assigned test rider Cal Crutchlow to fill the seat left by Andrea Dovizioso in the Yamaha RNF team after the Italian rider decided to retire after completing the San Marino GP two weeks ago.
