VIVA – Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno visited Pahawang Island. Minister Sandiaga Uno came to one of the villages in Marga Punduh District, Pesawaran Regency, Lampung Province in a series of roadshows for the Indonesia Tourism Village Award or ADWI 2022.
Sandiaga Uno was immediately greeted by villagers when he arrived at Jelarangan Pier, Pahawang Island. The welcoming ritual was held by washing Sandiaga Uno's feet using coconut water by the traditional leader.
Not only that, but the appearance of the Sambai Dance also welcomed the presence of Minister Sandiaga Uno. Seen the Regent of Pesawaran, Dendi Ramadhona warmly welcomed.
During the visit, Sandiaga Uno also visited several small and medium business products such as mangrove lunkhead typical of Pahawang Island.
Then proceed with reviewing the stand for making a miniature of the Pinisi Ship. Furthermore, Sandiaga Uno saw firsthand the making of fishing gear souvenirs, which are usually used by fishermen to catch fish.
In his remarks, Minister Sandiaga Uno said the tourism village program of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy last year received the title of Pandemic Winner because the number of tourist visits increased by 30 percent based on big data from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.
Therefore, his party invites the business and private sectors to develop tourist village destinations and their creative economy products.
"We hope that Pahawang Island will become a world-class tourist village destination," Sandiaga Uno remarked based on a written statement received by VIVA.
Pahawang Island Tourism Village is included in the list of the top 50 best tourist villages in ADWI 2022 because it has gone through a standard test process for the assessment team of the jury consisting of seven categories, namely 1. Visitor attraction, 2. Souvenirs, 3. Homestay, 4. Public toilets, 5. Digital and creative, 6. Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environment Sustainability (CHSE), and 7. Village Institutions.
Talking about tourism potential, Pahawang Island Tourism Village has a variety of attractions. Starting from natural beauty to artificial tourism.
Tourists can enjoy the beauty of underwater destinations. Pahawang Island has a very charming underwater beauty, not a few local and foreign tourists visit it.
