VIVA – The Kulon Progo Mangrove Forest in Yogyakarta offers natural attractions that are not only refreshing but also educational. This place is not far from Congot Beach, Jangkaran Village, Temon Kulon Progo District.
Tourists can enjoy the mangrove forests on the coast and the Bogowonto river. Mangrove tourism in Kulon Progo is divided into three tourist areas, namely the Pasir Mendhit Mangrove tourism (westernmost), then the Api Api Bridge Mangrove tour (Central), and the Kadilangu beach Mangrove tourism (easternmost).

The entrance ticket to the Kulon Progo Mangrove Forest is affordable. Visitors will be charged a ticket fee of around Rp3000 for each person. Meanwhile, for motorbike parking, it is only Rp 2,000. Meanwhile, car parking will be introduced for Rp5,000, and minibus parking will be charged Rp10,000.
Although managed by the local government, there are no complete facilities in this tourist area. These public facilities such as toilets, prayer rooms, and trash cans. In addition, there is a large parking area and also a stall that provides a variety of food.
Luckily, the Kulon Progo Mangrove Forest is located not far from the city center. Visitors who come from downtown Jogja, take the path towards Jalan Wates. Then go straight along the Wates Road until you meet the Nyi Ageng Serang statue.
From this statue, take the path towards Purworejo. Go straight on the main road to Wates Terminal. After that, continue the journey for about 10 km past the Padang Cheap Meriah restaurant which is quite large, and then you will meet a Y-shaped T-junction.
Choose the path to the left. Continue the journey until you meet the Congot Bridge. Choose the path to the west for about 100 meters.
To the left of the main road, there is a sign called Dusun Pasir Mendit. Enter the path and you will see many signs that will lead you to the Kulon Progo Mangrove Forest.
