President Joko Widodo Inaugurates the Papua Football Academy

VIVA – On the sidelines of a working visit to Papua, President Joko Widodo inaugurates the Papua Football Academy (PFA) at the Lukas Enembe Stadium on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. President Jokowi sees many talented people in Papua.
Some talented people from Papua in the football field, such as Rully Nere, Boaz Solossa, Ramai Rumakiek and Ricky Kambuaya.
"It wants to be like these football legends through the Papua Football Academy," President Joko Widodo remarked.
President Joko Widodo said at the Papua Football Academy (PFA) to achieve achievements, children will be trained in discipline and carry out regular exercises.
"Therefore, I hope that the children at the Papua Football Academy will take advantage of this good opportunity to gain knowledge in the field of sports," President Joko Widodo added.
In addition, the President Director of PT Freeport Indonesia or PTFI, Tony Wenas thanked President Jokowi for attending and inaugurating the PFA Program.
"This is a tremendous form of support and care," Tony Wenas remarked.
Tony explained, the Papua Football Academy is a place for Papuan son to gain knowledge in the field of football while carrying out the formal education provided in this program. Students are prepared to be competitive, creative, and competitive individuals.
The initiation of PTFI to establish the Papua Football Academy was inspired by the success of the Papua Province in holding the XX PON in 2021, as well as PTFI's commitment to social investment to help develop human resources in Papua through soccer.
PTFI hopes that the PFA program can restore the glory of football in Papua, as well as build young Papuan talents who are more professional in the world of sports.
“In the PFA program, we emphasize three things in shaping the character of program participants, namely opportunity, hope, and joy. We provide education and optimize the talents of Papuan children to become intelligent, competitive, confident, and adaptive soccer players." Tony Wenas said.
"And also, the opportunity to become a professional football player in the country and in the world," Tony Wenas added.
In the inauguration of the Papua Football Academy, President Joko Widodo was accompanied by a number of Ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet.
Such as the Minister of Youth and Sports; Zainudin Amali, the Minister of Investment/Head of the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board; Bahlil Lahadalla, and the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing; Basuki Hadimuljono.
