List of Countries with the Highest Stress Level in the World

VIVA – Mental health should not be underestimated. The World Population Review said in a scientific publication from the WHO in 2017 that it found some of the most depressed countries and the highest stress level in the world.
Meanwhile, a study by Our World in Data estimates that around 3.4% of the global population, or about 264 million people in the world experience depression, and stress conditions and even enter the stage of depression.
According to the Gallup Global Emotions report, which measures feelings and emotions from 142 countries in the world, Indonesia ranks 138th out of 142 countries surveyed.
It means that Indonesia is included in the top 10 countries with the lowest stress levels according to the report from Gallup.

1. South Korea
In 2021, with a score of 6.47, South Korea got the first rank as the country with the highest stress level in the world.
The pandemic situation, mental health, and the declining economic level are some of the driving factors. The suicide rate in South Korea is the highest of all OECD countries, and suicide is the fourth leading cause of death in South Korea.
South Korea also ranks among the five worst countries for safety and air pollution indexes due to the rapid industrialization of cities including Seoul.
2. Chile
With a score of 6.61, Chile is ranked as the second most stressed country in the world. One of the main factors is that the problem of air pollution has been a big problem for many years.
Chile was once the country with the highest air pollution index of all OECD countries, which was 78.59. Chile also has the lowest score for green space and open parks and is also the worst country for life and light pollution.
3. The United Statest
Reaching a score of 5.96, the United States was ranked third as the country with the highest stress level in the world in 2021. One of the driving factors is due to noise pollution (noise), light pollution, and the estimated cost of daily living.
Of all the OECD countries, the United States has the highest per capita health expenditure of £8,004 or around Rp151,6 million.
4. Ukraine
Ukraine had shocked the world because of the Russian invasion. Ukraine is the most stressed country in the world because according to WHO estimates. With a population in 2017 of around 44.83 million, depression is experienced by 6.3% of the population. In other words, about 2.8 million people in Ukraine are depressed.
5. Estonia
Estonia, a country located in Northern Europe, is also included in the list of the most depressed countries in the world with 5.9% of its population. As a small country, 1.3 million people are Estonian citizens. It was concluded that 77 thousand people in Estonia had this mental illness.
