VIVA – Epson Indonesia collaborates with WWF Indonesia to protect coral reefs located in Alor, especially on Kangge Island, Marisa Village. Not only that, Epson and WWF support ecotourism in Marisa village.

During the visit of Epson and WWF to Marisa Village on Kangge Island entitled “Reward Trip to Alor” on August 25, 2022, they were warmly welcomed by the Head of Village, Pokdarwis Chair, and other local communities. People in Marisa Village performs local traditional dance creations.

The purpose of this visit is seeing the development of Tourism Village ecotourism and review the rockpile for the rehabilitation of fish places to support developing of tourism spots, especially for diving and snorkelling.

Head of Marisa Village, Suaib Tupong said, this is the second time Epson has visited Marisa Village on Alor Island since 2013. He also hopes that the collaboration between Epson and WWF to help Marisa Village will be sustainable.

“Hopefully, the Epson and WWF collaboration can be sustainable. First, make a fish house on Kangge Island. Second, make a rockpile or fish house which is also arranged in the west of Kangge Island." Suaib Tupong remarked.

Head of Public Relations and Marcomm, Nolly Dhanurendra said Epson Indonesia has been around since 2000 and has done many activities.

“This is part of Epson Indonesia's activities to give back to the community. So, we have done a lot of activities both in terms of the environment and the community. Well, one of the activities we do is on Kangge Island, Marisa Village.” Nolly Dhanurendra remarked.

Nolly Dhanurendra also hopes that Epson's support in providing help for Marisa Village will be well received.

“We hope that from Epson Indonesia, our support can be well received by people in Marisa Village and can be useful. Not only for people in Kangge, but also for the people of Indonesia." Nolly remarked.

Then, the representative of WWF, Harris conveyed that Epson's support for community improvement on Kangge Island through WWF Indonesia is extraordinary.

“Epson Indonesia's support is extraordinary for Kangge Island through WWF Indonesia, we have done community capacity building, then carried out the laying of fish houses. This process is certainly extraordinary for Epson's support to this community." Harris remarked.

For information, Kangge Island has been used as a tourist spot that has been determined by Alor Regency.
