Achmad Bakrie Award 2022 Presents Five Special Categories

VIVA – The Achmad Bakrie Award or PAB award is back after two years of absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The presence of PAB 2022 feels different because it presents five special categories.
The Chairperson of the 2022 PAB XVIII Organizer, Aninditha Anestya Bakrie conveyed that PAB 2022 will be more special because it presents five award categories. The existence of this award is to commemorate the 77th Indonesian Independence Day and also commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Bakrie Business Group.
"Therefore, the theme of this year's PAB is the same as the theme of Bakrie's 80th Anniversary, namely Generation to Build the Country," Aninditha Anestya Bakrie remarked.
Furthermore, Aninditha Anestya Bakrie said that the PAB organized by the Bakrie Family through the Achmad Bakrie Foundation would cooperate with the Freedom Institute and the 20-year-old Bakrie Business Group.
“My grandfather, Achmad Bakrie's love for science and literature became the basis for us to hold PAB. To take part in appreciating and giving a place as well as appreciation to people who have contributed and contributed to Indonesia in the fields of science and literature,” Aninditha remarked.
As information, PAB was first held in 2003 and continue until 2019. So far, PAB has awarded 76 recipients. The award recipients are figures and institutions that produce extraordinary and inspiring works whose benefits can be felt directly by the public.
In addition, PAB is a manifestation of the mandate of the late H. Achmad Bakrie (1916-1988) which is contained in the philosophy of 'Trimatra Bakrie', namely: Indonesianness, benefit, and togetherness.
Furthermore, the Co-Founder of PAB, Rizal Mallarangeng, revealed that PAB for this year will look different from the previous year.
"This year there is a special award for international scientists who have contributed greatly to Indonesia," said Rizal, Founder and Executive Director of the Freedom Institute.
This special award for International Scientists who have contributed to Indonesia increases the number of recipients of the PAB XVIII 2022 into five categories, which are given to:
1. Nirwan Dewanto (Literature)
For various works that consciously free themselves from the limitations of national literary history, and which cultivate Indonesian treasures in a way that is sensitive to the development of world literature.
2. Mohtar Mas'oed (Social Thought)
For pioneering a non-Marxist structural analysis approach to economic-political realities in Indonesia and the international community that enriches the treasures of academic thought in the country.
3. Archaeological Research Team of Indonesian Ancient Cave Paintings (Science): Adhi Agus, Pindi Setiawan, Basran Burhan, Budianto Hakim, and Rustan LP. Santari.
A series of findings of the oldest figurative paintings in the world, in ancient caves in East Kalimantan and South Sulawesi, shifts the paradigm of Indonesian archeology and enriches knowledge about cognitive evolution on Earth.
4. Erlina Burhan and Tonang Dwi Ardyanto (Medicine)
For the synergistic contribution between the clinical-epidemiological and pulmonological-public health fields which helped Indonesia face the global Covid-19 pandemic with results that were praised by the international community.
5. R. William Liddle (International Scientist Devoted to Indonesia)
For his six decades of intellectual dedication in studying various political developments and institutionalization of democracy, along with the work of building a new generation of political scientists in Indonesia.

For the concept of the Achmad Bakrie XVIII/2022 Award awarding night event with the theme Generation Build the Nation, it will package in an elegant, simple and attractive way for Millennials and Gen Z.
