1. Kongo Gumi
As quoted from FastCompany, the oldest company in the world today is Kongo Gumi. This company is engaged in the construction sector which specializes in building temples of worship.
Kongo Gumi was founded in 578 AD. Currently, Kongo Gumi is trying to adapt to the modern era and merge with its Osaka-based subsidiary, Takamatsu.
2. Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan
Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan is a hot spring hotel that located in Yamanashi, Japan. This company has been in operation since 705.
Nishiyama Onsen is the oldest hotel recorded in the Guinness World Records. This business hotel is passed down through the same family for 52 consecutive generations.
3. Siftskeller St. Peter
Stiftskeller St. Peter's is a restaurant located in Salzburg, Austria. For more than a thousand years, this fine dining restaurant has hosted royalty and famous historical figures around the world, from Charlemange to Bill Clinton. Considered one of the best restaurants in Europe, Siftskeller St. Peter is said to have been around since 803.
4. Sean's Bar
Sean's Bar is located in Athlone, Ireland and has been around since 900 and has been named the oldest bar in Ireland. Sean's Bar has continued to serve beer and other alcohol customers for over a thousand years.
5. Weihenstephaner Brewery
Humans and other beverages over the years, so it's no surprise that some of the oldest companies in existence today are beverage manufacturers. One of them is Weihanstephaner Brewery.
The brewery based in Freising, Germany has been brewing beer since 1040 and is still serving one of the best beers in the world.
6. Wieliczka Salt Mine
Since 1044, the Wieliczka salt mine in Krakow, Poland has been supplying salt and shipping it around the world. The main reason for its success was due to the large salt deposits in the mine. Although the main building is no longer operating as a mining company, the building still exists and has been converted as a historical recreation area.
7. Shore Porters Society
Located in Aberdeen, Scotland, the Shore Porters Society has been providing moving, hauling and storage services since 1498. The company is officially the world's oldest transportation company and works in a variety of different industries, from moving house to transporting goods from auction house.
