Jokowi Inaugurates Kijing Terminal, Largest Port in Kalimantan

VIVA – President Joko Widodo or Jokowi inaugurates Kijing Terminal Pontianak Port, Mempawah Regency, West Kalimantan on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. Kijing Terminal is the largest port in Kalimantan.
It is known through President Jokowi, this port costs Rp2,9 trillion. The President also hopes this terminal will strengthen the competitiveness of superior products from the province.
“Because here (West Kalimantan) has great power, Crude Palm Oil (CPO), alumina, bauxite, and other products, and this port has a capacity of 500 thousand TEUs, as well as 8 million non-containers,” President Jokowi remarked.
The President also requested that the Kijing Terminal be used optimally to strengthen competitiveness and improve connectivity between ports, islands, and countries.
Not only that, Jokowi also asked the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Basuki Hadimuljono to widen the access road to Kijing Terminal.
"The Minister of Public Works and Public Housing is also present here, so we can finish it all. So, all container and non-container travel can run smoothly and we can do our final goal of strengthening our competitiveness," President Joko Widodo remarked.
President Jokowi also welcomes suggestions or aspirations to change the name of the port.
"Please submit it to the central government, to the President, I think we will accommodate all the aspirations, but today we have made it official," President Jokowi remarked.
On the same occasion the Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi explained that the Kijing Port of Pontianak Terminal is one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN).
"This development is motivated by the Pontianak Port which is increasingly limited with siltation and is located in the middle of the city. Therefore, Kijing can replace the Pontianak Port and provide space for industrial possibilities to grow in West Kalimantan which has extraordinary potential," Budi Karya Sumadi said.
