Mataram and Sumbawa Become a Place for MXGP 2023

VIVA – The Motocross Grand Prix (MXGP) or the world's motocross racing event in 2023 will be held twice in Indonesia, exactly in the Province of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The Governor of NTB, Zulkieflimansyah said that two MXGP series would be held in Samota Sumbawa and Mataram City.
"Insya Allah, MXGP in 2023 will be held in two series in NTB. Around the end of June in Samota and early July in Lombok," Zulkiedlimansyah remarked on Wednesday, August 3, 2022.
Not only that, West Nusa Tenggara Province is also chosen to be the location for the MXGP until 2027.
"Indonesia gets two quotas to host the MXGP, and thank God both are in NTB and no longer in other provinces at least until 2027," Zulkieflimansyah remarked.
The Motocross Grand Prix in Mataram will be held at the former Selaparang airport, Mataram City.
"The possibility of early July (MXGP) will be held in Selaparang Mataram, at the former old airport or in Lantan," Zulkieflimansyah added.
He also added, there will be an MXGP team that will check the location directly to Lombok.
"Later, the MXGP team from Monaco will decide," the Governor of West Nusa Tenggara said.
It is known that, previously, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno had offered to the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) or the International Motorcycle Sports Federation and PT. Infront Moto Racing to hold two Samota Motocross Grand Prix (MXGP) events in NTB Province in 2023.
