VIVA – The Prince Island or usually called as “Adalar”in Turkish is an archipelago in the Sea of Marmara.
As known, the islands take the name of the prince who had been banished by the Byzantium reign. The island is located opposite the coast of Maltepe and the Kartal region.
The archipelago consist of nine islands. Six of them were named Büyükada, Heybeliada, K?nal?ada, Burgazada, Ka??kadas?, and Sedef Adas. But only four main islands of the archipelago are Buyukada, Heybeliada, Burgazada, and Kinaliada.
One of the interesting aspects of the Princes’ Islands is that the archipelago is a real ethnic and cultural mix, each island has a majority religious community. Kinaliada was the holiday resort of Armenian bishops and Armenians from Istanbul, Burgazada was a village of Greek fishermen.
Heybeliada was the island of Turkish and Greek “bourgeoisie” of Constantinople, and Buyukada was popular among Jews and Europeans from Istanbul, although each community is present on the island. You can still find on all the islands many active synagogues, churches, and mosques.

The Prince Islands of Istanbul Turkey is a collection of nine islands located in the Sea of ??Marmara named Buyukada (Prinkipo), Heybeliada (Halki), Burgazada (Antigoni), Kinaliada (Porti), Yassiada (Plati), Tavsanadas (Miandros), Kasikadasi (Ribbon), Sedef Adas (Terevintos) and Sivriada (Oxis).
All of these islands are named after princes killed by rulers from Roman times to Byzantium times.
2. Summer Vacation Spot

3. How to get to Prince Island
The fastest way to reach the islands is by boat from Kabatas on the European side or from Bostanci on the Asian side.
There are also other cruise lines, take a boat from Kalimit and stop at Bostanc before going to the islands. It takes less than 45 minutes to reach the largest island, Buyukada and a ship terminal built during the Ottoman era.
