Five Communities with the Most Used Names in Indonesia

VIVA – Many said, the name is a prayer that has been given by parents when a baby is born in the world. The name given will be carried over to the end of life, although not infrequently the name can also be changed. However, the name is something that is attached to a person.

But apparently, there are several names in Indonesia that are very often used. Start from Agus, Asep to Sri. Uniquely, there is a community formed by people with the same name.

The community with the same name also often meets and gathers. Well, here’s a community that’s formed because of the names that are often used.

The Agus-Agus brothers or locally known as Agus-Agus Bersaudara ever meet in community gatherings. At that time, there were about 300 Agus who came. They had previously been gathered in an online Facebook community called the Agus-Agus Brothers. For now, there are more than 5,653 Agus who have joined there.

The AAB or Agus-Agus Bersaudara already has an online/regional community with representatives called the Regional Agus Council. This community already exists in 22 provinces in Indonesia.

Sri is one of the most famous names in Indonesia. Sri is synonymous with names originating from Java. The name Sri is usually considered as a less attractive name. However, if people look at the meaning, Sri is a symbol of beauty, fertility and prosperity.

Because for wanted to remove the thought that Sri is a less attractive name, Sri Sayekti from Semarang created a community called Sri community with the motto “From Sri for Sri and for the Nation.”

This community has been established since 2007 and has more than 6,000 Sri. But this number does not include all Sri in Indonesia.

In Javanese, Bambang means knight and this name is usually given to baby boys. On Facebook, there is a group called the Indonesian BAMBANG Community. It contained a lot of people named Bambang. Now only about 294 people have joined this group.

Initially, the group that appeared in 2009 only contained 59 people. No commercial purpose, this community only want to make people named Bambang know each other and make friends.

Sugeng is a name that many Indonesians have. Sugeng Joglosemar is a community where the members have the name Sugeng, while Joglosemar stands for Jogja, Solo, Semarang.

So, it was the Sugengs who lived in the area who originally founded this community. The purpose of this community is the same as the previous one to maintain friendship with the Sugengs in Indonesia, especially in the areas that have been mentioned.

From the Facebook group Para Sugeng Joglosemar, it can be seen that the founder of this community is J Sugeng Suhartanto and now there are thousands of Sugeng who have joined this group.

Jogja Endang Club is a community created for the activities of women named Endang in a forum for exchanging stories, social services and other positive things.

In Jogja, initially there were 571 Endang collected. It’s planned that the Endang Club will be expanded to other areas throughout Indonesia.

Every 9th, the Endang will gather at the house of Endang Syahbenol, the founder of the Jogja Endang Club in the Sleman area. They also wore the same brown batik clothes with the Kawung Prabu motif.

Endang Syahbenol's idea to gather people named Endang occurred in 2004. Unpredicted, she can meet with other Endang from various regions and professions.
