FIBA Praises Indonesia as Organizer of the FIBA Asia Cup 2022

VIVA – This year, the Fédération Internationale de Basketball (FIBA) made Indonesia as the host of the 2022 FIBA ??Asia Cup. This prestigious match began on July 12 to 24, 2022. After the match ended with the victory of the Australian National Basketball Team, FIBA ??praised Indonesia for having hosted the 2022 FIBA ??Asia Cup 2022 well.
The government through the Minister of Youth and Sports, Zainudin Amali appreciates the hard work of the organizing committee and PP Perbasi who have successfully organized the 2022 Asian Basketball Cup.
Zainudin Amali was also grateful for the support from the Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir, who was also a FIBA ??Board Member who helped make the event a success.
"The government appreciates the efforts of our basketball community which has put us in the 10th position of the Basketball Asian Cup which we have never experienced," the Minister of Youth and Sports, Zainudin Amali said.
Meanwhile, Erick Thohir believes that with the euphoria of the FIBA Asia Cup 2022, the development of Indonesian basketball will be even better and will speak a lot at the Southeast Asian level.
He also said that FIBA ??praised Indonesia as the organizer of the FIBA Asia Cup 2022.
"I also received an extraordinary appreciation from all of FIBA, conveyed to the Minister of Youth and Sports, to the Chairman of Perbasi, this is the best FIBA Asia Cup championship they have ever experienced. Not only the readiness of the committee, but also the readiness of the facilities," Erick Thohir remarked.
"They (FIBA) believe that Indonesia can prepare well for the World Cup next year. They really encourage the development of Indonesian basketball in the future," he added.
Meanwhile, FIBA Asia Executive Director, Hagop Khajirian, admitted that he was impressed by the atmosphere of the 2022 Asian Basketball Cup final where the audience was full and enthusiastic.
"Excellent. A fantastic final with an amazing match and an amazing crowd supporting both teams, even though it wasn't the hosts who played," Hagop Khajirian remarked.
In the FIBA ??Asia Cup 2022, the Australian national basketball team successfully completed its mission of defending the FIBA Asia Cup 2022 Cup title.
They performed well in the final by defeating the Lebanese national basketball team 75-73 in a match held at Istora Gelora Bung Karno on Sunday, July 24, 2022.
Australia is the fourth country to win two consecutive Asian Basketball Cup titles after the Philippines, China and Iran. Amazingly, Australia has not lost since first participating in the 2017 edition.
Meanwhile, Lebanon again had to settle for runner-up. This is the fourth time that Lebanon has finished second in four occasions competing in the final.
Despite the defeat, Lebanese Basketball player Wael Arakji was selected as MVP of the 2022 Asian Basketball Cup. He said his team had fought hard against Australia, which is one of the toughest teams in the world.
