Traffic Engineering Policy at the HI Roundabout Becomes Permanent

VIVA – The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency decides the Traffic Engineering Policy in the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout Area or locally known as HI Roundabout will take effect permanently starting today, Monday, July 18, 2022.

This policy applies daily from 4 pm to 8 pm in order to improve traffic performance in the area. Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo urges road users to adjust traffic sign settings.

"It is appealing to road users to be able to adjust traffic arrangements, obey traffic signs, instructions from officers in the field and prioritize road safety," Syafrin Liputo remarked.

As reported from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government website, Syafrin Liputo said that the evaluation of the traffic engineering trial at the HI Roundabout from June 27 to July 8, 2022 showed positive results.



During this period, the degree of saturation which was originally 0.55 to 0.45 or decreased by 16 percent. Meanwhile, the volume of two-way traffic, which was originally 40,662 passenger cars, became 46,249, an increase of 14 percent.

Syafrin explained that the traffic delay which was originally 3.22 became 2.50 seconds or decreased by 22 percent. Meanwhile, the queuing chance, which was all 7-16 percent, became 5-11 percent, or decreased by 31 percent.

"From a safety perspective, there is a reduction in traffic contact points. It means, the movement of vehicles from South to East and North to South, which was originally eight points is reducing to four points," Syafrin Liputo when confirmed on Monday, July 18, 2022.

He added that the diversion of traffic from the south to the east was limited with priority for TransJakarta and VVIP groups.

Traffic from South to East is diverted via Jalan M.H. Thamrin, turn around at the Horse Statue Roundabout or the Ministry of Transportation.

Meanwhile, traffic from the East heading to the West or North which will go to turn left via Jalan Jenderal Sudirman-turn around at Landmark Kolong Sudirman-Galunggung street-turn left to Kupingan BNI-Jenderal Sudirman street and so on.
