VIVA – The Central Board of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PP PBSI) chose not to include a number of Indonesian representatives to take part in the 2022 Taiwan Open for many reasons. Even so, the Indonesian team still provided three representatives for the 2022 Taiwan Open.
A total of 12 Indonesian representatives step down from participating in the 2022 Taiwan Open. Then, after a decision from PP PBSI, only three will compete.
They are Ikhsan Leonardo Imanuel Rumbay and Christian Adinata from the men's singles sector and Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi to appear in the women's singles that has arrived since Friday, July 15, 2022 from Jakarta.
Indonesian representatives from the PP PBSI National Training Center, including those who just appeared at the Singapore Open 2022, will withdraw. They gave up not participating in the super level 300 event.
Head of the Development and Achievement Division of PP PBSI, Rionny Mainaky said that some coaches and badminton players are getting sick.
The two Indonesian champions at the Singapore Open 2022 who will compete at the Taiwan Open 2022 are confirmed to be cancelled.
Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti in the women's doubles sector and Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin in the men's doubles sector chose to withdraw from the 2022 Taiwan Open.
Both partners are currently sick. Siti Fadia feels pain in her heel since she was in Malaysia, while Leo Carnando still feels pain in his waist.
"We pulled all players from Taiwan, including those who had appeared at the Singapore Open. Because there were players and coaches who were sick," Rionny said.
According to Rionny, the health protocol system in Taiwan is still very strict. Indonesia does not want to take risks.
"In Taiwan, health protocols are still very strict. There is a quarantine, bubble system, and daily antigen tests. If exposed, quarantine must be in hospital. We don't want to take risks," he added.
Rionny also conveyed, the team that had just returned from Singapore would undergo a PCR test and quarantine upon arrival in Indonesia to ensure everything is safe.
