This ancient volcano in Yogyakarta is located in Nglanggeran Village, Gunungkidul Regency. This volcano was active about 60 to 70 million years ago, but right now Nglanggeran, an ancient volcano, has been declared inactive.

The shape of the Nglanggeran Ancient Volcano is in the form of a giant andesite rock that stretches for 800 meters and reaches a height of 300 meters.

Nglanggeran Ancient Volcano has more than 28 springs. One of the springs is considered a mystical lake that never dries up, the name is Telaga Wungu. It is said that only clean-hearted people can see the existence of Wungu Lake.

2. Ancient Volcano of Tanjung Karang Bata

Tanjung Karang Bata Ancient Volcano is located in Karangduwur Village, Kebumen Regency. It is known that this volcano was formed about 50 million years ago.

At Tanjung Karang Bata, there were traces of rocks left by ancient volcanoes. The traces of the volcano were formed from the freezing of magma that occurred millions of years ago and were discovered by a team from the Geological Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Jenderal Soedirman University, Purwokerto.

The rocks in Tanjung Karang Bata are a unique geological phenomenon, with a hexagonal shape and a columnar texture. These ancient volcanic rocks limit the Menganti Hills from the Southern Ocean waves. The Tengger Caldera originates from Mount Tengger. The Tengger Caldera, located in East Java. It should also be noted that the caldera is included in the category of ancient caldera and erupted thousands of years ago.

The Tengger Caldera is said to be 9 x 10 km in size, surrounded by steep cliffs with a height of between 50 meters and 500 meters.

The mountain range within the caldera is surrounded by volcanic rocks of Mount Tengger Purba which is also known as Mount Bromo Purba.
