VKTR Will Provide Electric Buses for West Java

VIVA – PT VKTR Mobilitas Technology and PT Jasa Sarana, a BUMD owned by the West Java Provincial Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on June, 16, 2022 at TvOne studio, Jakarta. This cooperation aims to carry out an electrification program for buses and other vehicles as a means of public transportation. The plan is that this electric bus will operate in the West Java area.
The signing was carried out by the President Director of PT VKTR Mobiltas Technology, Giliarsi W. Setijono and the President Director of PT Jasa Sarana, Hanif Mantiq.
PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas (VKTR) is a subsidiary of PT Bakrie and Brothers Tbk (BNBR) which is engaged in manufacturing electrification of transportation and telematics ecosystems.
As the President Commissioner of VKTR, Anindya Bakrie said the signing was carried out to support the cooperation plan between the two parties for electric buses that will operate in the West Java region.
"This collaboration will include conducting a feasibility study, data collection, procurement of electric bus facilities, and electrical infrastructure related to bus electrification," said Anindya at the TvOne Studio on Friday, June 17, 2022.
Giliarsi as the President Director said the signing of the MoU was carried out to support the cooperation plan between VKTR and PT Jasa Sarana in implementing the electrification program for buses and other vehicles as public transportation.
"This collaboration will include conducting a feasibility study, data collection, procurement of electric bus facilities, and electrical infrastructure related to bus electrification, and other potentials that can be synergized and collaborated," Giliarsi said.
As known, this electric bus is planned to operate in the Greater Bandung area, which includes Bandung City, Bandung Regency, West Bandung Regency, Cimahi City, and parts of Sumedang Regency.
According to Giliarsi, the West Java Provincial Government through PT Jasa Sarana took the initiative to develop a bus rapid transit (BRT) in the Greater Bandung area. This BRT will be operated through 12 routes with more than 260 buses. Most of them are medium size electric buses.
On the same occasion, the President Director of PT Jasa Sarana, Hanif Mantiq said his parties are continuously conducting studies and opportunities for collaboration with many parties to realize this program. In fact, this study has been carried out, both at domestic and abroad.
"Electrification of BRT transportation in the Greater Bandung area is expected to significantly reduce carbon emissions, and create a special attraction for the community," said Hanif.
Earlier this year, together with PT Transportasi Jakarta (TransJakarta) and PT Mayasari Bakti, a total of 30 units of VKTR-BYD electric buses were launched as part of the Transjakarta fleet and have been going back and forth on the streets serving transportation for residents of the capital.
